[0:30] Erica and Mike think the first annual Worcester VegFest was a triumph.

stART on the Street is May 15.

[9:36] Brendan thinks that violent incidents in the Tatnuck Square area do not constitute a trend and are not a reason to fear the neighborhood.

[16:08] A T&G columnist wrote about their legendarily awful online comments section—bloggers have been complaining about this for years and years, and the paper has yet to fix the problem.

[19:11] Mike had trouble today buying a Worcester gift.

[20:50] Jeff Barnard (rightly) won Worcester Magazine’s “Best Blogger.” We approve of WoMag’s devil-may-care attitude in composing this year’s “best” list. Brendan on WoMag: “They’re doing great without an editor. Don’t hire an editor!”

We endorse upcoming stuff at the Ecotarium and Energy Barnraising.

Are there blackflies in Worcester? We are not sure.

  1. Mike, sorry to have missed you in your quest for quality, locally produced Mustard! We do have those pesky (ish) hours that we love to enforce. I am here pretty much 23 hours a day. If the front door is closed you can usually call the cell and rouse me out of hibernation. As always, all the best and keep up the great work! -Stu aka the “Good Doctor”

  2. I hate to beat a dead horse, but let’s…

Regarding the commenting policies at the Telegram, the Boston Globe Gatekeeper blog discussed the T&G’s announcement to charge for local news. While there was a nice discussion of models that have and have not worked, a good part of the post was made up of quotes from commenters to the Telegram website. So, instead of a thoughtful discussion on what journalism can and should be, and, frankly, a much-needed discussion of how much local coverage the Telegram would be adding in this scheme, we get a bunch of rants from commenters. Which, I suppose, just proves everything I thought about modern journalism.
