Brenna,
Divestment is definitely working! Harvard turned into Stanford which avalanched into UC divestment and just recently CalSTRS and Maine divested. The movement is starting to bring significant pressure upon the Sudanese government.
Having said that, divestment is part of a broader strategy to end the suffering in Darfur. On April 30th, thousands of activists from across the West Coast will show the depth and power of the anti-genocide movement in San Francisco at the Day of Conscience for Darfur (www.ourpledge.org). If you've ever thought of doing anything to help the people of Darfur, now is the time to take a stand. Please join us in San Francisco on the 30th and register now at www.ourpledge.org.
Thanks for all the great working blogging on Darfur and let's keep the pressure up until the genocide ends.
Ben

That's pretty cool. It's good to have a Nobel Prize-winner on your side. Make sure that Stiglitz's message gets out to counter the Sudanese government's disinformation.
I know on a lot of international issues I've never really sure whether more economic involvement or less economic involvement is the better course of action to effect change. Finding out whether the money is going into the hands of the people or into the hands of the government is a pretty good metric to figure out which way to go.
