The death of the factory means that the entire system we have built our lives around is now upside down. This is either a huge opportunity or a giant threat.

[21:36] Mike loaned his bike to someone who attended the G-20 summit protests in Toronto and the police hauled it off.

  1. I think it’s people like Ian that have the best chance of making something in this economy. Being able to live inexpensively, as he described, really opens up a lot of opportunities to pave your own way and perhaps carve out a much more satisfying life than traditional 9 to 5ers. It’s the people with mortgages, kids, etc. that have the most difficulty reinventing themselves. They’re often unable to take that big risk that’s involved with starting over from scratch or developing a really creative idea. I don’t know how many times I’ve thought over the past couple of years, “Man, if only I could live off what I did when I was 25 the things I could do now.” But that’s often the difficulty — the wisdom comes later after your responsibilities have doubled.
